25 Things I’ve Learned by 25 Years Old
Tomorrow is my 25th birthday and that sounds even crazier than I could’ve ever imagined but I have some high hopes for 25. Life is good man and I can’t wait to see what this new season brings.
With each year comes new challenges, new successes, new friends, new lessons - you get the gist. As I look back, there are so many things that I have learned in the past 25 years. Some good, some bad, and some real real ugly. Yet with each passing year, I find myself so grateful for the years prior. I wanted to take today’s post to share some of the things I’ve learned during this quarter of a century of living. Really this is almost a little letter from me to me but take what you need and apply as you see fit to your own life.
So here’s 25 things I’ve Learned By 25 Years Old:
If they wanted to, they would. Simple as that. If someone wants to be in your life, whether it be romantic or not, they will make every effort to do so.
Listen to ALL advice and take/apply what you need. Even if it is advice from your parents or someone you can’t stand. Listen, hear them out, and see if it applies.
Do it scared. Nothing great comes from within comfort zones. Get out and do something scary because usually, nine times out of ten, it’s worth it.
You can’t fully love and care for others until you love and care for yourself.
Everything and I mean everything happens for a reason. Even if it doesn’t seem like it when you’re going through hell.
Good things take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, all that fluff. Yeah, it’s true. Practice patience and good things will come.
You are going to lose some friends, and that’s okay.
Making friends as an adult can be hard but the ones who stick are true blue.
You don’t have to do everything so please ask for help. Stop being a control freak and let someone be there for you.
Mom telling you to get a job in high school was worth it. Because of that grocery store job scrubbing toilets, you got your own business gf.
Crying is freeing and normal. Do it more.
Perfectionism is great but it’s also paralyzing. Sometimes it’s better for things to be done rather than perfect. Cause what even is perfect anyways?
Be nicer to yourself. You seriously are your own worst critic and no one is judging you as harshly as you think they are.
You are capable of creating the life you love. Might take some elbow grease but you CAN do it.
Not everyone will agree with you and it’s important to listen and learn from them instead of shutting them out.
You really never know what demons people are facing. Be nice and kind always.
Travel and travel often. Alone, with friends, either way go see the world. It is so much bigger than you.
When you think of someone, let them know you’re thinking of them. You can really make someone’s day.
Along the same lines, tell people you love them and tell them more.
Say yes to things that make you happy and no to things that drain you.
You are never too old (or young) to start something or try something new.
Take breaks. Whenever you need them. Refill. Recharge. Reset. The whole eight hours of sleep thing - yeah, it totally matters. You can’t pour from an empty cup sister.
People can and will try to stop you from following your dreams. Put on your noise cancelling headphones, listen to Rihanna and do it anyway.
Never and I mean never stop learning.
Prayer works. *mic drop*
If you read all the way through, you are the realest. Let me know a valuable lesson you learned on Instagram! Here’s to 25!
